Tel Aviv and Jerusalem Rocked by Iranian Missile Barrage After Israeli Airstrikes

Explosions thundered across Tel Aviv and Jerusalem late Friday night, moments after the Israeli military warned that Iranian ballistic missiles were en route. The sudden warning gave residents little time to react before sirens pierced the night and missiles began striking key areas, prompting widespread alarm and chaos.
Reuters footage showed a dramatic plume of smoke rising over Tel Aviv where a missile crashed into the ground. Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya confirmed Iranian missiles had entered Israeli airspace, triggering the Iron Dome and other defense systems. U.S. forces also reportedly assisted in intercepting the high-volume assault.
The missile strikes came in response to Israel’s earlier “Operation Rising Lion,” which targeted Iranian nuclear and military facilities. Iran claims the Israeli operation killed several top figures, including IRGC commander Hossein Salami, and severely damaged uranium enrichment centers, sparking the swift retaliation labeled “Operation True Promise III.”
According to Iranian officials, over 150 ballistic missiles were launched toward Israel in a two-wave offensive. However, Israeli military sources reported fewer than 100 missiles penetrated their airspace, thanks to coordinated interception efforts. Despite these defenses, some missiles reached their targets, hitting populated areas.
In Tel Aviv and nearby suburbs, several buildings were struck, causing structural damage and widespread fear. Windows shattered from shockwaves, fires broke out, and emergency services rushed to assist the injured. Israeli health officials confirmed at least 22 injuries, with two individuals listed in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Iran’s state media reported casualties from the earlier Israeli attacks, stating that 78 were killed and more than 320 injured. The mounting toll on both sides has prompted serious international concern over the potential for a wider regional conflict.
Global leaders have urged restraint as the United Nations Security Council prepares for an emergency session. Oil prices surged in response to the instability, and Israeli officials have mobilized reservists and urged civilians to remain in shelters, warning that more missile attacks could follow in the coming hours.
